There are so many choices and as soon as you find the one you love, you know something will pop up in your feed that will make you double think yourself. I got you! I found a lovely company that has so many options to go through (900+ wedding invite sets) so you can rest easy knowing you will have “seen it all” when you make that final choice.

Basic Invite is a Utah-based stationery company that offers custom wedding invitations along with customized card options for nearly any type of event. That means if you want muddy green for your card base and the perfect shade of mustard for the accents, it’s yours for the taking. Honestly, from a creative standpoint, finding that “perfect color”, only to find that the company you are using doesn’t “offer it” can be super disappointing. Got you covered there babe. Colorado Springs Micro Wedding Day at Fountain Creek Ranch

Hey friends! I am teaming up with my good friend Sarah of Vintage Violets Photography to document your authentic love during the Fountain Creek Ranch Micro Wedding Day, Sunday, May 16th, 2021. The Fountain Creek Ranch is a new wedding venue as of 2020 and offers their wedding couples an authentic Colorado ranch-style wedding complete with a western boho-style ranch house surrounded by beautiful pasture land on the Fountain Creek.

Believe me, I know, getting married can be a stressful adventure. There are so many moving pieces to pull together in order for it all to work out the way you intend. Having a micro wedding is becoming a popular choice for many reasons. Ease of planning, fewer formalities, easier on the pocketbook and more, are just a few of the justifications for having a micro wedding in lieu of a larger, more formal, wedding.

Maternity Session at Red Rock Canyon in Colorado Springs

Jess and I met when I did some consulting work for the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado. She sat in a desk area near mine and would help me proofread my important emails, haha. She is great at grammar and is a saint truth be told. I am so thankful that she asked me to help her document her first pregnancy with a maternity session.

I remember seeing their pregnancy announcement on social media. She and Andrew posted a photo of both of them eating all the things out of the fridge to illustrate the joys of becoming a mother and father, haha. It was pretty fun. In the back of my mind, I was sending them vibes to reach out to me because I wanted to document that bump when she got bigger. Yes!!

Colorado Springs Downtown Couples Photo Session

My daughter Emma is the best thing since sliced bread. I had her when I was 18 and she changed my life. It is so weird to see her growing up. Having a boyfriend. Like a real-life, treats her good, there for her, normal relationship boyfriend. In March, she will be 16 and my heart is breaking.

I remember driving to the hospital on the night before she was born. I was so sick. It was a whirlwind of ambulance rides to towns far away and doctors coming into and out of the room and ended with my sleepy sedation as I went into the OR for our emergency C-Section. Emmas birth was followed by several weeks of commuting back and forth to the hospital 2 hours away to see my sweet girl in the NICU. Worth it. Look how amazing she is now.

As her 16th birthday approaches, I know concretely that the days she will remain by my side are getting shorter than they were before so I must tell myself to slow down. Slow down and take her in. This sweet Pisces girl had ringlets of golden hair and a smile that never faded. She found someone who is kind and generous to her and it just makes me happy that maybe one day she will get to start her own adventure with someone who will care for her as I do.

I am so happy and proud of her. That tiny little four-pound baby who gave us all the scare of our lives when she entered this world. She is finding her authentic way through life and I feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t get a chance to meet her. My shining star. My sun, and my moon. My little girl.

Fountain Creek Ranch Colorado Wedding Venue

The Fountain Creek Ranch is a historic wedding venue located just south of Colorado Springs. They are a new venue that launched during one of the hardest years we have had in a long time. They are still here though and I wanted to share their lovely space with you!

Alex, Daniel, their kiddos + I explored the house and grounds at the Fountain Creek Ranch on a fall day. The house was built as the Frost Family home and was lived and worked in by the Frost Family for some time. The ranch has decided to open its doors and land to host authentic Colorado weddings, lucky you!

I enjoyed the time I spent watching and hearing the kids play in the rooms and hallways. Each room holds different vibes and possibilities. The grounds of the ranch has its own flower garden which, when in full bloom, takes your breath away. The land is on the Fountain Creek as well so there are chanced to explore the creek area along with the large cottonwood trees that inhabit the land.

The Fountain Creek Ranch is hands down one of the most diverse, authentic, and beautiful wedding venues I have had the chance to hang out on in Colorado. When you visit, there could be workers tending to crops or animals. There is nothing quite like the sights of a working ranch.

If you have been thinking about having a larger destination wedding in Colorado, I recommend checking out the Fountain Creek Ranch. Matt, the event coordinator at the ranch will take care of all your wedding planning, venue and setup needs while I take care of your timeline and photography coverage. Stree free friends. That’s how your wedding should be.

Can I help you plan your day? Even if you aren’t using the Fountain Creek Ranch or a venue at all, I would love to chat with you to see what I can help you create. Be it a full-blown wedding with 6 attendants on each side or a mountain elopement with just the three of us. Let me capture the authentic love between you and your partner. Mountain View Elopement in Garden of the Gods

Elopements were the word for 2020 and 2021 is looking to be just as elopement heavy. So many couples have opted to elope instead of having a large wedding due to all of the reasons you could think of for 2020. Personally, I only take on elopements are smaller/less formal weddings as a rule of thumb. I love hanging out with my couples and document their love in an authentic and natural way.

Jennifer + Jay eloped with me in Colorado Springs at the end of 2020. They drove down from their home in Woodland Park with her in the backseat with a blanket between them so he couldn’t see her! It was pretty much the cutest thing ever. He pulled up and I was like, “where is Jennifer?”, I could hear her from behind the blanket saying hello to me. I die. hahaha

I took Jay up to the spot where he would wait for Jennifer. We chatted on our way and got to know him a little bit more. I went back to the car and got Jennifer and took her up to meet him. They wanted to do a traditional reveal and they got it! It was perfect.

They brought some things along with them for me to create a “lay flat” image. It is an image that contains little items that are important to you and your wedding day. I gather them all up and “lay” them out “flat” for a sweet little detail shot. Jay and Jennifer brought something usual that I had never seen before, a geological marker from the first mountain they climbed together. It was pretty fun to work with and it was special to them which was even more beautiful.

I would LOVE to work with you and document your love authentically and soulfully. Bring the things that are special to you to Colorado, let me show you around.

Mountain Maternity Session near Pikes Peak

When I get to work with a client for both their maternity AND their newborn session, I feel extra special. It is something special to trust someone to document not only one but two amazingly important times in their life. Laura is due in just a few days and I am so excited to get that message that their sweet babe has arrived.

I noticed something during my time together with Laura and David. David helped Laura along during our session. Making sure her every step was carefully taken and he was there to ensure she didn’t fall. It makes me think about how it might feel to be the dad in a pregnancy. I have been pregnant, but I am not a dad. To feel so much love for someone before you have ever met them, let alone felt their presence, in the unique way only a mother can. They protect and care for and love that sweet babe, right from the start. That is some powerful love.

Rocky Mountain Winter Elopement

Madison and Brandon are high school sweethearts. Madison reached out to me because they had a dream of eloping in the Rocky Mountains. They wanted to proclaim their love to one another in our beautiful Colorado landscape and I had just the spot for their private ceremony together.

I met this lovely couple at one of my favorite locations, in fact, I also eloped here. Each time I go here, I relive my own time with my sweet husband and it revives the romantic parts of me. It’s almost like a gift to myself to take these beautiful couples to this spot of mine. To have them laugh and love in the same space that I gave my forever love to Daniel.

Madison and Brandon braved the extreme cold with me to say their sweet nothings to each other high upon the mountain with nothing around except us and the crisp mountain air. To witness two people who have loved each other for what seems like right from the start, to put trust in one another, to proclaim their forever to one another, it is such a big deal to me. I am thankful they picked me to take this journey with them.

Are you looking to elope in our Colorado mountains? I know with COVID, getting married seems like an impossibility however, it’s not. I promise. I can work with you to create a day that you will look back on just as fondly, if not more so, than you would if you had a big party. Do it. Elope. Have that party later. You will thank yourself when you get to look into your partners eyes and see that pure love looking back in the quiet mountain air.

Marriage Celebration Couples Session at Garden of the Gods

Erin lives in another state and they both have jobs that make travel hard with the restrictions in place. Erin was lucky enough to get some time during the holidays to make the trip to Colorado to spend some much needed time with Bobby. Erin and Bobby had only seen each other a handful of times when we met for their session at the end of 2020 because of the COVID pandemic. It was so lovely to see their love on fire for one another during our time together.

Erin and Bobby had only seen each other a handful of times when we met for their session at the end of 2020 because of the COVID pandemic. It was so lovely to see their love on fire for one another during our time together.

Erin and Bobby are pretty classic and wanted images that showcase their love in an authentic way. A Garden of the Gods location I use offers a private space to really enjoy each other without a lot of others around and allowed for them to really relax and be themselves.

During our time together, I noticed they both had wedding rings on. These two sweethearts got married during the pandemic and didn’t have a celebration. Right then and there I pivoted my thoughts for their session and made sure to include some images to highlight their new marriage and vows to one another. It was a sweet evening.

Did you get married and not have a ceremony or celebrate in 2020? I bet you are wanting to document that sweet love this year. I can help! Send me a message. Let’s chat and let me help you show your love authentically in 2021.

Engagement Session on Rampart Range

Shaylyn and Taylor wanted something different for their engagement session with me. Lovers of the outdoors and all things nature, they really wanted to showcase the beauty of where we live near the mountains. This location immediately came to mind and just in time because if we would have waited just a few more weeks, this spot would have been inaccessible.

Originally, we had planned to include Taylors restored Scout in the session but due to an unexpected event, the keys were MIA. Never fear, it allowed us to spend more time exploring this area and taking our time to get just the right light and allowed them to relax and feel comfortable with me.

Even though it was extremely cold during our time together, these two were kings and queens of keeping each other warm and letting the love flow. Shaylyn and Taylor, thank you so much for allowing me to hang out with you in the freezing mountain air and letting me show your love to the world. I appreciate that trust more than you could ever realize.

Front Range Pikes Peak Couples Session

I used to think that if you fought in your marriage, that you didn’t have a good one. This was because I wasn’t taught what marriage truly looked like. It has taken me YEARS (I am 34) to finally figure out that marriage is so much more than what I thought it was. It is respect and fighting with respect. It is love and fighting with love. It is agreeing and disagreeing and all the things in between. What makes a marriage is not perfection or bliss. It’s the desire to stay with the one that stole your heart and choosing them. Every. Single. Day.

Couples Session near Pikes Peak on the Front Range

This space is quickly becoming a new favorite. Those white rocks, beautiful field, and amazing mountain views are breathing life back into my soul. Shelley and Matt reached out to me to document their wedding anniversary. With this past year, they wanted to treat themselves to a well-deserved token of their love, and I was there for it.

Can we talk for a minute about how hard marriage is? I know that most people will lie straight to your face and tell you that “if you marry the right person, it’s easy”. I am here to tell you that they are just saying that so they don’t have to speak the truth. Marriage requires work, all of the time. The key to remaining in a relationship that you truly love and care about is communication.

Folks, communication can be a hard thing to master, if you ever do it at all. I will tell you this though, give yourself grace, and know, just because someone else’s marriage looks peachy on the outside, we all have our moments. I will also tell you that those moments don’t lessen the love you share with the keeper of your soul.

I used to think that if you fought in your marriage, that you didn’t have a good one. This was because I wasn’t taught what marriage truly looked like. Whew, that was a bit deeper than I thought I was going to get tonight but I think that I needed to say those words. For all the couples that made it through the dumpster fire of 2020, give yourself a giant pat on the back, kiss your sweetheart with passion, and go buy yourself something nice. You earned it.

Speaking of buying yourself something nice, wanna get together and document that steamy love you share with your babe? I wanna take your picture in 2021 (and 2022 and 2023 and allll the times after that!). Hit me up! Drop a note to say hi and let’s journey together. I want to document your authenticity and show you that love tangibly. Click that button below for booking info. See ya!

Couples Anniversary Session in Cheyenne Canyon

Whew! I am coming out of the woods guys. My October was insanely busy with sessions this year! I had 22 sessions in 30 days, which is insane. I wanted to get everyone in and I did it, even if gallery delivery times had to be extended a bit to accommodate everyone. When I deliver a gallery like this, I know that, just like the painful waiting of closing on a house, or having a baby, when you get your final product, you forget all about the waiting. You are just so happy with the end result that you focus on that goodness. Madeline, I know you have been waiting for this gallery for longer than you expected but I know that you are going to love it!

Couples Anniversary Session with Mountain Views

Anniversary Sessions. They are the best. Paula reached out to plan a surprise session for her and her husband of one year, Jake during their vacation to Colorado Springs. Paula and I worked to coordinate what would work best for them and their time here.

In the end, she couldn’t keep the secret from Jake any longer so he knew about the session when they showed up at our location for the evening but it was still super fun planning this surprise and it added to the dynamic of the night!

You don’t get much better than fall colors here in Colorado. That scrub oak gives off the best array of reds and oranges and does not disappoint. Paula and Jake, thank you so much for trusting in me to document the celebration of your first year of marriage. During COVID nonetheless! So much love to you!

Planning a trip to Colorado? Want to get photos done while you are here? I am your girl! Hit me up and let’s plan something special together!

Cottonwood Pass Hiking Mountain Elopement

We traveled through trees, across makeshift stick bridges over mud and muck, across what is to be known as “The Sound of Music” area and then scrambled over boulders. We made it, when we climbed over the hill my heart raced, it was the most beautiful pond I have ever seen. Surrounded by snowy mountains and solitude. It was perfect.

James and Alex got changed into their wedding clothes in the great outdoors while I worked some magic with their wedding details. It was time. I followed them down to the most lovely space for them to exchange their vows, rings, and heart. Their authentic love. Right before me. It was moving and something I won’t ever forget.

Buena Vista Mountain Elopement at Cottonwood Pass

Alex and James, how did I get so lucky to be able to spend an evening with you two? From the moment I pulled into the brewery where I picked ya’ll up, I knew it was going to be an amazing night. Thank you so much for allowing me to journey and adventure along with you in the mountains for your elopement. It means so much to me that I was included and that I have made a friend in you both from our time together.

When I picked up Alex and James for the drive up to Buena Vista for their elopement, they loaded their things into my car. James works for a brewery and brought along with them two cans of celebratory beer. Well, one of them busted and without skipping a beat, I made them go stand in the shade and chug the shit out of that busted can of beer. Let’s start this evening off right!

On the drive up to Buena, we chatted and got to know one another. It was such a lovely time. To really get to know them. To know their story. I informed them of my less than fit body and that I might be a tad slow hiking the 45 minutes from the trailhead to their ceremony spot. They were so gracious and kind the whole way. James and I buddied up and were like, “I…need…a…break….” haha. Alex is a go-getter and we could barely keep up with her!

After their ceremony, we made our way to another spot around the pond for another ceremony of sorts. They exchanged drinks of scotch from a small dish. It is a tradition where the couples (and sometimes families) drink the same scotch from the same dish or cup to show the other that they are true to one other. To build and show trust. It was unique and I am thankful I got to hear the tradition and story.

Right about the time they were to start this exchange, it started to sleet. We held out and it passed within a few minutes. It was such a beautiful, quiet, and serene moment. The cold white flakes. The laughter of Alex and James. Their love kept them warm.

We headed back to the trailhead just before dark. James was our trusty navigator; we only got lost once but quickly found our way. On the way back, it rained and we listened to their favorite songs. It was peaceful. It was right. It was authentically what I would call love.

Thank you Alex and James for allowing me to be with you. To document your love. To provide you with images that you can look back on and not just memories.

Are you reading through their elopement story and wishing you had one of your own that was just as authentic and lovely? Why not? Reach out. Let me help you create a space where you can share your love in your own unique way.

Wedding Couple Session in Garden of the Gods

Elizabeth and Matthew have had an unfair year. With COVID abound, they had to change their wedding plans once and then postpone altogether to next year due to travel restrictions for military members. When Elizabeth and I talked about this, I felt her heartbreaking. Immediately, I offered to meet up with them in their wedding attire to do a complimentary wedding session so they could still get some photos this year in that beautiful dress she bought for her lovely day.

Couples Session in Frisco Colorado

Kara, how are you so pretty? I swear, each time we see each other, your smile and warmth just capture me. I can still remember waking up that cold morning in my tent to photography your elopement with Tyler by your side. The night before, sitting around the campfire eating yummy things and talking the evening away. Here you two are now, loving, laughing, and LIVING OUT OF A VAN! I think that is ridiculously cool.

When Kara reached out to me, she told me they wanted photos of them in the van they were now living in with their two pups. I jumped at the chance to hang out with them. Location was key as we wanted to be sure the van was situated in a space that reflected the beauty of nature. I had shot in Frisco at this location the month prior and I was excited to be going back.

When I arrived, Kara and Tyler showed me their van and everything it could do. I even got to use their compost toilet, very self-sufficient. They have a cooktop, a built-in spice rack, and a fully functioning sink. Their bed was also super comfy (believe me, I laid down on it!). They even have cute little cactus’ in the cup holders up front, the perfect space. After I checked out their sweet home, we took a stroll by the water. We let the pups run and play along the water and we chatted about life and their hopes for the future.

I felt like our time together was an adventure and adventures are my favorite. Can I adventure with you too? Can I help you craft a session in a location that you love just I did for Kara and Tyler? Reach out, let’s make a plan!

Nebraska Sandhills Wedding in Alliance

August 1, 2020 share two important things in common for me. Your beautiful wedding day and my birthday! I can honestly say, it was the perfect way to spend my day. Nebraska holds a special place in my heart. The prairie, the Sandhills, cowboy life, and everything that goes along with it. Nebraska weddings are simply untouched in regard to everyone making you feel at home. I felt that while I was there, hard. Everyone made me feel like family and I cannot thank them enough.

Nebraska Sandhills Wedding at the Brogan Ranch

Shelby + Brady. I don’t think anyone has as big of hearts as you two. During your engagement session, I could tell that you two love hard and true. From the way he looks at you to the way you hold his arm in yours. Your love is a match made in the stars. Thank you for inviting me out to the Sandhills to celebrate with you.

Nebraska weddings are simply untouched in regard to everyone making you feel at home. I felt that while I was there, hard. Everyone made me feel like family and I cannot thank them enough.

Some of my favorite highlights of the day include:

Shelby trusting me to just walk into her home, like we had been friends for years.

The decorations, oh wow. My daughter is convinced that even though we no longer live in Nebraska, she is going to have a cowboy wedding.

The people. I know I already mentioned it but I want to say it again. The NICEST folks you will ever meet.

Sewing Shelby’s dress back together, not only once, but twice. Thanks, mom for those sewing lessons when I was a kid!

The horse-drawn wagon was seriously everything and the Qualms are beautiful people. It was nice to see some of them again!

On the way back from wedding party photos, Shelby and Brady wanted to stop to check the mail. This was hilarious and unexpected. What was also unexpected was the “Antioch Variety Pack” that was in the mailbox too. Blackberry Brandy and Fireball duct tapped together. It doesn’t get more Nebraska than that!

Having the couple take photos in the “stink weeds”. haha. They sure are pretty though with those purple flowers!

All the dancing. Oh, the dancing. The dancing is my favorite part. I missed the country dancing and this wedding had plenty of it.

Most of all, my favorite part of the wedding was seeing the genuine love radiate from Shelby and Brady for their family and friends. It was one hell of a party.

Friends, I invite you to soak up their day by clicking play on the slideshow above. The song made me tear up before I even placed the images with it. Get those tissues handy, you are in for some Western Nebraska love and you don’t want to miss it.

Are you looking for your wedding photographer? Someone you can connect with and document your day the way you always dreamed? I take on only a handful of weddings yearly and I would love to work with you, especially if there are cowboy hats involved. I also would love to work with you if you are planning a private, small wedding, elopement, or something in between. I leave the big fancy church weddings to others though, as it just isn’t my jam. Curious about my wedding collections or just want to say hi? Click the button below and let’s chat!

Colorado Prairie Anniversary Couples Session at The Paint Mines Interpretive Park

Now, I am not telling you this story so you know my life history. I am telling it because it deserves to be told. If you are reading this you are either friends or family of Stephanie and Chase or you are a future (or past) client that is looking to book or book again. I want you to know just how much I adore, cherish, and am thankful that you allow me to be the one there with you on your adventure. That you are thinking of choosing me to tag along on that journey. Let me tell you when I say my clients often become my friends, I mean it. Here we go!

Paint Mines Interpretive Park Anniversary Couples Session

I met Stephanie and Chase when they hired me to be their wedding photographer back in 2018. The rest is history. These two have been my husband and I’s best friends almost immediately. I know that if I need someone to talk to, if I need a shoulder to cry on, advice, a rowdy game night, or delicious food and good company, I can count on these two to selflessly provide it.

Isn’t it funny how that works? I remember sitting with them at the library talking about their wedding and their hopes and dreams for it. I don’t know if it was because they were art majors in college, the fact that they too were from Nebraska, or that they just exhibited genuine care and love for one another that I felt drawn to them.

I can still remember our first date night out with them at the Burrowing Owl. A vegan restaurant, which I was assured would taste amazing (no offense to you vegans out there), and it was! They rode their motorcycle, which died and we came back to rescue them! I think that moment solidified our friendship for good.

Each year, I am so thankful that they continue to ask me to photograph them for their anniversary. They take me to some pretty amazing places, not only with our photography adventures but just in general. We have been to numerous amazing places in New Mexico and Utah and all over Colorado. I am thankful for you my friends. For your kindness and grace. For your love and for your cute puppy, Bella (she’s my god dog and I love her so!).

A Lifetime Waiting, a Maternity Session in Woodland Park

Ready to be parents. Arms open and warm. The thing is, when you have to wait so long for something, when it finally happens, you cherish it. I mean really cherish it. Every moment. Every feeling. Every thought. I am here for it friends. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with me. I cannot say enough how honored I am to be the one who sets these moments in stone.

Lauran reached out to me to book a maternity/newborn bundle session. With each client, I send a questionnaire over to understand their why for wanting a session. I will admit, I cried happy tears when Lauran shared their story with me. I couldn’t wait to talk to her during our pre-session video call. To tell her how happy I was that she picked me. I know there are a lot of options out there for someone to document your story and the fact that she (and Colt) chose me to tell their story for me, that’s a feeling beyond words.

In just a few short days I get to meet this sweet girl of theirs. I get to see who she looks like more. I get to witness that undying love between a mother and her babe. Those first snuggles. Those first kisses. Those first moments that are ever so fleeting and gone before you know it. I know it sounds cheesy to say “I love documenting” but this is different. In the future, when they are done changing diapers and their babe heads off to college, they can look back at these and remember what it took to get to this point. To be here. Thank you for including me in your authentically beautiful journey. From the bottom of my heart.

Interested in talking with me about how I can create a gallery like this for you? Send me a message and tell me your why. I would love to soulfully capture your pregnancy and those first moments of your sweet babes life. Truly.
